Life-saving medical equipment is just minutes away for anyone who suffers a cardiac arrest within the vicinity of Ridgeway Primary School, Burntwood.

The campaign was proudly funded by the generous support of the parents and community of Ridgeway Primary School and sponsorship from Tippers and Allports Group.

Jamie Richards, Chief Executive of AEDdonate said: “It’s great to see the Ridgeway Primary have an AED installed on their School. Not only have they just had an AED, they have made it accessible to the community 24 hours a day 365 days a year. We would urge other communities nearby to contact us to see how we can help.”

A defibrillator is a device that gives a high-energy electric shock to the heart through the chest wall to someone who is in cardiac arrest.

Providing an essential and potentially life-saving, stage in the treatment of anyone suffering a cardiac arrest, defibrillators are easy to operate with step-by-step instructions for members of the public to use in an emergency.

They’re becoming an increasingly common sight in public places across the country and have already saved many lives.

Responsible for around 30,000 deaths in the UK every year, sudden cardiac arrest is one of the country’s biggest killers but quick and easy access to a defibrillator can significantly increase the chances of survival.
